Each week, our inbox runneth over with news of gear, apparel and tech releases from around the world. In this feature, we’ll parse through the best of them. Today: Minimalist hammocks, the perfect casual summer top and a MasterClass with Tony Hawk.
Suicoke Saturdays NYC Edition Depa-V2
If you’re in want of an everyday summer shoe, look no further than Saturdays NYCs’ recent collaboration with cult Japanese footwear brand Suicoke. The two brands teamed up to create a new version of the ever-popular Depa-V2, a silhouette that features a chunky (though never clunky) Vibram sole and thick adjustable velcro straps. The black upper is offset by the white sole, two white slashes on the velcro and ‘Saturdays’ (broken into two parts) on either heel. It’s sporty without being too athletic and stylish while remaining subtle.
Everlane 100% Human Collection
Everlane just added three new, affordable styles to their 100% Human Collection. The collection serves as a reminder that we’re more alike than we are different, and for every 100% Human product sold, Everlane donates 10% of sales to the ACLU and their efforts to defend human rights. The new styles include The Organic 100% Human Unisex Icon Tee, a women’s ReCotton 100% Human Being Tee and The Silk 100% Human Bandana. The unisex tee is made with certified organic cotton, features an exclusive 100% Human icon and is available in grey and white. While the versatile bandana is crafted from 100% silk, includes an eye-catching 100% Human graphic and is available in five different colors.
The Hammock Throne
Time to upgrade your plebeian hammock to a throne. This relaxation piece from Yellow Leaf Hammocks was crafted to let you lounge anywhere — your backyard, living room or office — in style thanks to its minimalist, chic design.
Rowing Blazers x Fila
Dressing like a 1970s tennis pro is in as evidenced by Rowing Blazers’ latest collaboration with FILA. Every design in the collab, from the tracksuits to the sneakers, come in a red, white and navy blue colorway, lending the collection a distinctly Americana feel without leaning too patriotic. Despite the bold colorway, the designs remain relatively simple in silhouette, with a zig zag detailing running throughout. Outfit yourself in a full look or mix n’ match with pieces in your closet. Either way, you’ll look like you just stepped off the court.
MasterClass with Tony Hawk
Whether your kid’s been asking for skateboarding lessons or you’re getting on the board as a coronavirus-induced hobby (and definitely not a quarter- or mid-life crisis), you now have access to the best to ever do it. This week, skating legend Tony Hawk joined MasterClass, the celebrity skill-share streaming platform, with a series of lessons that tackle basics like pushing and stopping and go all the way up to advanced street, park and vert trick tutorials.
The Long Haul Jacket in Indigo Boss Duck
Taylor Stitch has just added some serious durability and comfort to their classic Long Haul Jacket design, creating a handsome, hard-working piece featuring a unique zig-zag reinforcement stitching throughout, custom antique copper YKK hardware and signature SF map print pockets. And if you pre-order now, you’ll save forty bucks.
LG TONE Free HBS-FN6
We rotate between a few different pairs of earbuds, and we own a PhoneSoap UV light sanitizer to cleanse our devices. Why no one thought to combine the two ideas before now, we’ll never know. The upcoming LG Tone has a UVnano case that eliminates bacteria and germs on the earbuds as they charge. And while in your ears, they’re a snug fit and they come with multiple customized EQ sound settings
Short Sleeve Camp Shirt in Seersucker
A Hawaiian-style spread collar in a warm-weather seersucker featuring a locker loop on the back and real shell buttons — has Alex Mill crafted the perfect casual summer top? We think so.
XC4 H1-Luxe Hybrid
Johnston & Murphy created a golf shoe that’ll look good closing a deal while featuring all the performance technology needed to actually play the game. The business-minded shoe features waterproof leathers and high-performance knit, memory foam cushioned footbed and a smart degree technology that delivers breathable temperature control — keeping you comfortable on and off the course.
Puma x Arnold Palmer Collection
PUMA Golf, which has collaborated with the Arnold Palmer Enterprises on a capsule collection for spring that caught our eye. Featuring brightly colored polos emblazoned with the Palmer umbrella logo, a Cessna airplane-patterned top and bottom (Palmer loved to fly himself to and from golf tournaments) and, of course, a cardigan in an alpaca-wool-blend, the line not only harnesses the King’s vintage aesthetic, but still looks staggeringly modern. The capsule is one we could live in all season long.
We've put in the work researching, reviewing and rounding up all the shirts, jackets, shoes and accessories you'll need this season, whether it's for yourself or for gifting purposes. Sign up here for weekly style inspo direct to your inbox.
