As good as camera phones have become, there are still a lot of things a GoPro can do better. Or at least there are situations where you’d be wise to use a device that’s built to withstand some bumps and bruises.
Which is a great reason to pick up the GoPro Hero5 today. Right now, it’s at its lowest price ever — $127 and change, a 49% price drop and well below its original $400+ price point at launch.
The Hero5 offers 4K video, 12MP pics in single, 30 FPS bursts or time-lapse modes, a waterproof designation down to 33 feet without separate housing, and you can view and edit footage straight on the device.
Now, a few caveats: You’re not getting the original packaging here but a rather plain “e-commerce” packaging. While the device is being sold as new, some reviewers insist this brown-bag versions are refurbished cameras (it’s also covered under a “full standard warranty”). And for just $30 more, you could get the same minimalist packaging on the more updated HERO7 model.
Still, an action cam for less than $130? Might be worth taking a chance.
