Because successful dinner parties aren’t built on a foundation of cracked baby carrots alone, there’s Kitchit: a custom catering service that hooks you up with award-winning chefs for your at-home fêtes.

Founded by three ravenously entrepreneurial Stanford biz alums, Kitchit helps you spend hassle-free time with your friends by letting you book local chefs to prep, cook, and clean up after your guests.

How it works: browse the profiles of nearby cuisiniers, who range from the up-and-coming (e.g., Dan Kluger, exec. chef at ABC Kitchen and Food & Wine’s Best New Chef 2011), to the already up-and-came, e.g., Mourad Lahlou, owner of the first Moroccan restaurant to receive a Michelin Star.

Your selected chef will propose a personalized menu (e.g., grilled albacore tuna and parsley root agnolotti, or deconstructed BLTs), all for around $50-$180 per person. To guide your choosing, Kitchit provides a concierge and a helpful list of party idea inspirations, e.g., casual get-togethers, group cooking lessons, and fundraisers.

No need for a professional kitchen: chefs arrive groceries (and knives) in hand, and can prep and serve the meal from even the most IKEA-sized kitchen. They’ll even bring utensils.

Kitchit’s currently available in SF, NY and LA, and soon will expand, saving dinner guests from raw cauliflower platters one city at a time.
