It takes some effort to visit a season destination in its “off” months — a conscious rewiring of trip-booking DNA, if you will.
But it has its benefits. Namely: better prices and way fewer people.
We know that the beach in July will be covered from boardwalk to high tide in towels, that Yellowstone in August channels Times Square, that Vail at Christmas might as well be the Santa activation at the local shopping mall. But similar to agreeing to an Uber surcharge at 2 A.M., we do it anyway.
Friends, there is a better way.
The perfect example? Ski-in/ski-out lodges in summer. Because if America’s got one thing down, it’s a big home with even bigger windows planted firmly at the foot of a mountain.
So while the weather’s still warm, we decided to round up six of the country’s best on-piste Airbnbs (plus one from our friends up north). They’ve got hot tubs, saunas, wood-beamed ceilings and enough beds to sleep the cousins’ cousins.
