In the summer of 1964, at the absolute height of Beatlemania, The Beatles played a show at the Hollywood Bowl — one of their most iconic, which was later released as a live album. And during their week in Los Angeles, they stayed at a private estate, which you can now rent for $42,000 a month.

The fact that you can stay where The Beatles stayed isn’t crazy news in and of itself, but how they ended up staying there is what makes the rental so cool. Originally, the band was booked at the now-closed Ambassador Hotel. But with the very real (and quite scary) threat of thousands of hormonal teenagers storming the property to catch a glimpse of the English band, the hotel canceled their reservations. The Lockheed Airport in Burbank wouldn’t even let them land their plane because hoards of people were surrounding the area. What is hottest band of the time to do?

That’s when actor Reginald Owen came to their rescue. He owned the property at the time and rented it to The Beatles for $1,000 during their four-day stay (which would be about $9,700 now). Supposedly, John Lennon ran to the pool and jumped right on it, fully clothed, when they arrived.

The six-bedroom, seven-bathroom estate is now aptly dubbed Beatle Manor, and anyone who wants to follow in the band’s footsteps can sprawl out in the 6,000-square-foot property, set on an acre of land. The light-filled home has a lovely kitchen and the aforementioned pool, as well as fireplaces, fire pits and an octopus’s garden with plenty of shade.
