Due to the ongoing weirdness in Green Bay between Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, we’re not positive we’ll see the reigning NFL MVP take the football field against Tom Brady next season. But we now know we’ll see Brady and Rodgers compete against one another on the golf course before football even begins: the former will pair with Phil Mickelson and the latter with Bryson DeChambeau in the latest installment of The Match.

And Brady, who guided the Bucs to a win over Rodgers and the Packers in the NFC Championship game the last time the Hall-of-Famers faced off on the gridiron, is already talking a little friendly smack ahead of the matchup.

Brady is likely referring the Packers opting for a field goal on a fourth-and-goal while trailing by a touchdown during the Championship game, although he could also be calling out Rodgers for not attempting to run the ball into the end zone when it appeared he had a lane prior to the field-goal attempt.

Either way, Brady taking shots at Rodgers adds a little spice to a matchup that would be even better if Mickelson was replaced by Brooks Koepka, who clearly is not a huge fan of PGA peer DeChambeau. (Brady may agree Koepka should be involved based on one of his subsequent posts.)

About a year ago, in a previous iteration of The Match, Brady and Mickelson lost to Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning at the Medalist Golf Club in Hobe Sound. Though far from perfect, the event raised millions of dollars for COVID-19 relief. More recently, Mickelson teamed with Charles Barkley to beat Stephen Curry and Peyton Manning in November.

Since losing to Woods and Manning, 43-year-old Brady became the oldest quarterback to win a Super Bowl and 50-year-old Mickelson became the oldest golfer to win a major tournament.

The Match against Rodgers and DeChambeau will be held July 6 at the Reserve at Moonlight Basin in Big Sky Montana and air on TNT. The event will benefit Feeding America.
