Packers Deny Promising Aaron Rodgers a Trade With QB’s Decision Coming Soon

Rodgers is supposedly close to making up his mind after spending 12 days violently expelling his bodily fluids by choice

According to a report from ESPN’s Dianna Russini, league sources believe a now-cleansed Aaron Rodgers will be informing the Packers of his decision about whether or not he’d like to return to Green Bay soon.

If Rodgers, who has won MVP four times since winning the Super Bowl but never made it back to the big game after also losing four times in the NFC Championship Game, does decide he wants out of Green Bay but wants to continue his playing career in the NFL, there are “multiple teams with offers on the table” for him, per Russini.

Following a rocky offseason last year, it was widely believed that the Packers had an agreement with Rodgers that they would deal him if he decided he wanted to leave the team. Speaking on Wednesday, general manager Brian Gutekunst refuted that notion and said he never promised Rodgers he would trade him after the 2021 season.

“That was not something I told him,” Gutekunst said. “Again, I think the whole conversation with Aaron last season before he came back was that, regardless, at the end of this past season, that we would sit down as a group and we would work it out one way or another.”

Gutekunst, who has full control over roster moves, said Rodgers is just going through his “process.”

“I think the one thing that I know for sure is Aaron takes this stuff very seriously,” Gutekunst said. “His performance and what he brings to our football team on so many different levels, he puts a lot into that and he knows how much work it takes during the offseason to prepare himself to give to our team what he does. So I think he’s going through his process right now to get himself ready to make sure he knows that he wants to do that because I don’t think it’s easy what he does to prepare for a season.”

It certainly isn’t, as Rodgers just went through an intensive 12-day therapy called Panchakarma that includes treatments such as forced vomiting, nasal clearance, digestive clearance using enemas and bloodletting. One might think that the 38-year-old would have been better off preparing for next season locking himself in a room and watching tape in order to figure out why the Packers lost in the playoffs for the second straight year as the No. 1 seed in the NFC, but apparently that isn’t the “process” that works for him.

It would be nice if this situation was resolved soon, but that doesn’t seem all that likely considering how much Rodgers appears to enjoy being the center of attention.
