With his current one-year contract with the NFL Network set to expire over the summer, NFL RedZone host Scott Hanson is set up to become one of the hottest television free agents on the market.

Hanson, who was named the host of NFL RedZone during its inaugural season in 2009, has never missed a Sunday broadcast and has been in front of the camera for 200 editions of his seven-hour program.

A favorite of fantasy football players and sports bettors alike, Hanson deliberately dehydrates himself before going on the air and has taken just a single bathroom break in the last decade, according to Front Office Sports.

“I am convinced that if I leave I will hear, ‘Lamar Jackson with the most dynamic 99-yard touchdown in NFL history.’ And I’m not going to miss it,” he told the publication. “I will not expose myself to missing the great play that day, that week, that month, that season or historically. I do not want to miss a play. The only thing that could cause me to miss one is a bathroom break. So I don’t take them.”

While speaking with FOS, Hanson also expressed his desire to remain with the NFL Network and continue to host RedZone. “I love the NFL. The NFL has been very good to me. And I hope I have been very good for the NFL. My hope would be to continue,” he said.

The 49-year-old joined NFL Media in 2006 as a national reporter covering all 32 teams and made the transition into studio hosting in 2008, the year before he started hosting the RedZone.

A Cum Laude graduate from the Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, Hanson played football for the Orangemen.
