Aaron Rodgers Credits ’20 and ’21 NFL MVP Awards to Tripping His Face Off

The 38-year-old quarterback says he won his third and fourth awards following an ayahuasca experience in South America

During a recent appearance on the Aubrey Marcus Podcast, reigning NFL MVP Aaron Rodgers credited winning the award in back-to-back years to taking the plant-based psychedelic ayahuasca in South America at some point before the 2020 season.

“I don’t think it’s a coincidence,” Rodgers told Marcus, who is the founder of supplements brand Onnit. “I really don’t. I don’t really believe in coincidences at this point. It’s the universe bringing things to happen when they’re supposed to happen. There’s signs and synchronicities all around us at all times if we’re awake enough to see them and to take them in and to listen to our intuition when it’s speaking to us or pounding us in the head saying, ‘Hey dummy, this is what you’re supposed to be doing.’”

Entering his 18th season with the Packers and now the highest-paid player in the NFL (thanks to a deal that was signed after his life-altering psychedelic experience), Rodgers threw for 4,115 yards and 37 touchdowns last season and helped Green Bay lock up the NFC’s No. 1 seed. Despite playing at home, the Packers lost in the playoffs in a game where Rodgers seemed to give up and only threw to Davante Adams, who is now a Raider.

“I’ve dealt with a lot of disappointment in my career. Lot of incredible moments, highs and great wins, win a Super Bowl, win MVPs. I’ve also dealt with the disappointing losses, some that stick with you forever,” Rodgers said. “But at the core of it, there’s such a love for the game.”

Rodgers, who was willing to take drugs in South America but refused to get vaccinated against COVID-19 in America, had much more to say:

Rodgers has been letting his freak flag fly for a while now and showed up to training camp in Green Bay looking like Nicolas Cage and sporting a new tattoo that is all sorts of mysterious but not necessarily too cool.

The four-time MVP, who has dated Danica Patrick and Olivia Munn, and was even engaged to clay-eating actress Shailene Woodley, with whom he allegedly had lots of sex despite having a non-traditional relationship, has engaged in some extreme self-care measures before and spoke about putting himself through a notorious intensive therapy called Panchakarma in February that calls for forced vomiting, nasal clearance and bloodletting among other things.

“If you’re not a student of astrology, there’s going to be some weird things to look at in there,” Rodgers said, talking about his new tattoo during a recent interview on NFL Network. “There’s three signs at the top: Aquarius to the right, Sagittarius in the middle and Scorpio on the far left. Scorpio is the sign I most resonate with on my own natal chart. The rest has some stuff to do with elements and some other things.”

The tattoo was done by Hungarian artist Balazs Bercsenyi, who also did work on Rodgers’s rumored new girlfriend Blu of Earth.

It’s great that Rodgers is willing to try new things and open himself up to life-changing experiences, but if he wants to win Super Bowls instead of MVP awards, he might be wise to consider the TB12 program instead of ayahuasca.
