Tough news for one of America’s most beloved actors: on Monday, Jeff Bridges took to Twitter to reveal that he has been diagnosed with lymphoma.

Bridges made reference to The Big Lebowski and his most famous role in the tweet, writing, “As the Dude would say…New S**T has come to light.”

“Although it is a serious disease, I feel fortunate that I have a great team of doctors and the prognosis is good,” he continued. “I’m starting treatment and will keep you posted on my recovery.” He did not offer any details about the specifics of his diagnosis.

Bridges followed up the tweet with another thanking everyone for their support and urging fans to vote in the upcoming election. “I’m profoundly grateful for the love and support from my family and friends,” he wrote. “Thank you for your prayers and well wishes. And, while I have you, please remember to go vote. Because we are all in this together. Love, Jeff.”

He’s best known as The Dude, but Bridges has enjoyed a lengthy, successful career beyond The Big Lebowski that includes seven Oscar nominations. He won an Academy Award in 2010 for his performance as an alcoholic country singer in Crazy Heart.
