Today in fashion: Porn is in for 2020. PornHub stars will walk the New York Fashion Week runway for the first time on Sunday, Page Six reported.
Adult entertainment stars including Asa Akira, Marica Hase and Jade Kush,will model Berlin label Namilia’s new Herotica collection this weekend in what the brand’s designers, Nan Li and Emilia Pfohl, have described as a feminist statement.
“The cosmos of sexual pleasure has been restricted to a few boring and chauvinistic narratives for the pleasure of the male gaze,” Li told Page Six. “Porn isn’t something existentially male. Most women just have been excluded from determining the narrative.”
Namilia has been leaning into the feminist angle on Instagram ahead of the show, posting promotional images of the new Herotica collection including tights bearing the phrase “FEMINISM FUCKS” and a vaguely cyborgian shoulder piece with the words “COCK WRECKERS” on it.
As Dazed pointed out, while the Namibia show marks PornHub’s NYFW runway debut, it’s not the first time the porn and fashion industries have joined forces. Last year, porn actor Sean Ford starred in a short film debuting a new sex toy for French designer Ludovic de Saint Sernin’s label, while back in 2016 the brand Hood By Air partnered with PornHub on its SS17 show to create a collection featuring the website’s name.
