As most Beatles fans know, John Lennon spent 18 months in a relationship with personal assistant May Pang during the separation from Yoko Ono he famously dubbed his “Lost Weekend,” and the New York City apartment where it all happened is now up for sale.
As TopRealEstateDeals.com points out, the five-bedroom triplex at the Southgate co-op in Sutton Place where Lennon lived with Pang is on the market for a whopping $5.5 million. The 4,000-square-foot property also features a wrap-around terrace, where Lennon was photographed in his iconic sleeveless “New York City” T-shirt in 1974.
In addition to those five bedrooms, the penthouse (which is located at 434 East 52nd Street) has four baths, four fireplaces, a living room, a library/media room, and, as the listing notes, “a large chef’s kitchen with a French Country vibe and a formal dining room that will seat 20.” The building is a pet-friendly co-op with landscaped gardens and a full-time doorman.
Lennon, of course, ultimately left the apartment and returned to Ono in 1975, and the couple lived together in their apartment in The Dakota on 72nd Street until his murder in 1980. Ono still lives in that building to this day.
