Rising conservative media star Tomi Lahren has filed a lawsuit against her ex-boss Glenn Beck and his media firm, TheBlaze, alleging wrongful termination, according to Fox News.
In a 27-page lawsuit filed Friday in Dallas, Lahren’s attorney said there is nothing in Lahren’s employment contract that prohibited her comments on The View, where she appeared on March 17 and said that she was in favor of abortion rights.
“I can’t sit here and be a hypocrite and say I’m for limited government but I think the government should decide what women do with their bodies,” Lahren said on the show.
Her comments caused backlash from many conservatives, including Beck himself, who retweeted a video of Lahren referring to abortion as “murder,” recorded a few months before. Following the appearance, Lahren’s show was immediately cancelled and she was suspended, Dallas News reported.
The lawsuit alleges that TheBlaze bosses ordered Lahren to stay silent on social media, took over her Facebook page where she has 4.2 million followers, and cut off communication from supervisors to Lahren and her lawyer, Brian Lauten.
“She’s very disappointed and sad that we’re in this situation,” Lauten reportedly said, “but they left her with no choice.” Read more about the details, including TheBlaze’s response to the lawsuit, here.
