While we’ve already outlined NYC’s top spots for power-lunching once the Four Seasons Restaurant shutters its doors this summer, we may have just found another option: your house.
After the restaurant dishes up its last asparagus agnolotti and miso cod in 50-some-odd days, “Manhattan’s most iconic” eatery will put its furniture, tableware, cookware and other interior pieces up for auction.
During the Wright auction — which will be held on July 26th at the legendary restaurant — approximately 500 lots, including chairs (estimates for a pair start at $1,000), banquettes (starting at $2,000), leather “Perching” sofas ($3,000 to $5,000), pot sets ($500 to $700), serving bowls ($500), 24-plate collections ($500 to $700) and Phillip Johnson-designed bar carts ($1,000 to $1,500) will be put on the block.
“I think patrons of the restaurant see this as an opportunity to support it as it begins a new chapter,” says Wright Auctions director Brent Lewis. “Every day we get calls and notes from people around the world asking for information.”
In a fortunate (or unfortunate) twist for Four Seasons fans, the famous bar, sculpture and curtains will be staying put until the restaurant’s landmarked interior is reopened for business.
That means they won’t be auctioned — but they will be available at power lunches to come.
