Taylor Kitsch is not the strong, silent type we know and love from Friday Night Lights. A new GQ profile finds Kitsch as he takes on talkier roles, from David Koresh in Waco to his upcoming debut as a director/star in Pieces. It turns out Kitsch is no Tim Riggins. He’s loud, Canadian, eager, and sincere. Kitsch discusses his roller coaster superstardom, from the massive disappointment of 2012’s John Carter, to the grueling fluctuations in weight he’s taken on for roles, to his tour of Tommy Lee Jones’ polo field. Add a stint as a weed snipper for the Hell’s Angels as a young teenager, and Kitsch becomes something more than the best high school running back in the state of Texas.
