In NFL years, they’re old dog—but Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers still have plenty of tricks.
Despite being ages 41 and 34, respectively, Brady and Rodgers were voted the top two quarterbacks in the NFL in a new Associated Press poll of 10 of the organization’s veteran football writers.
Brady received first-place votes from six of the writers and second-place votes from the other four, whereas Rodgers received four first-place votes, five second-place vote, and one nod for third.
Only one other QB, Drew Brees, garnered a vote for first or second place.
“The Michael Jordan/Wayne Gretzky of pro football, Brady makes everyone around him better,” said AP writer Barry Wilner. “That includes receivers, runners, blockers, defenders and special teams. Oh yeah, and coaches. At 41, he’s still the guy.”
Brees finished third overall in the poll, followed by Seattle’s Russell Wilson and Pittsburgh’s Ben Roethlisberger.
Last night’s losing quarterback, Atlanta’s Matt Ryan, was sixth, followed by injured Philadelphia starter Carson Wentz, L.A. Chargers’ Philip Rivers, Carolina’s Cam Newton, and Detroit’s Matthew Stafford.
