Sadly, Anthony Bourdain has committed suicide in France while working on an episode of “Parts Unknown.”

The 61-year-old chef and television personality was found unresponsive in his hotel room by his friend, French chef Eric Ripert, on Friday morning.

“It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain,” CNN said in a statement. “His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller. His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time.”

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, suicide was the tenth-leading cause of death in the United States in 2016, claiming 45,00 lives. If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, you can call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-8255, or discuss it using these Do’s and Don’ts from ReportingonSuicide.org.
