Jaguar’s Electric SUV Will Be $10K Less Than a Tesla

And that's before you factor in Uncle Sam's kickbacks

There’s been a lot of chatter this week at the Geneva Motor Show about the 2019 I-Pace, Jaguar’s new electric SUV.

Not only did the British carmaker reveal the first production model of the five-seat crossover, but it also revealed confirmed a price tag starting at $69,500. By comparison, the base-level Tesla Model X — the I-Pace’s closest equivalent — starts at $79,500. That’s quite an aggressive pricing strategy … and a peek into the competitive future of the EV market, especially when you realize that the I-Pace is more than ready to go toe-to-toe with the Model X on the performance end of things.

Even better, that price is before federal or state incentives are factored in. Between the $7,500 federal income tax credit and state rebates, a New York driver, for instance, could potentially trim a total of $9,500 off that figure.

Interested? Jaguar is already taking orders at retail locations. Deliveries will roll out the second half of this year.
