That age-old love story about Americans and their cars?
Allegedly a myth.
But not this weekend.
Because one of the most celebrated private auto collections is about to go up for auction: the Andrew Car Collection, taking bids online this Saturday at RM Sotheby’s.
A father-son passion project of 40+ years, the Andrews Collection is a cornucopia of 78 historic and rare vehicles spanning nine decades, from pre-war American classics to legendary sports and GTs.
A few we liked:
1962 Ferrari 400 Superamerica SWB Cabriolet
The last of seven examples bodied by Pininfarina, this restored model once raced at the Bonneville Salt Flats.
1932 Ford Lakes Roadster Custom
After topping out at 141.95 mph in 1949, this hot rod went through a full body restoration and returned to the track.
With its distinctive body design (dubbed the “Knobbly”), the Lister-Jaguar was one of the fastest European racing cars in the ‘50s. This is one of 16 models with an American engine.
Plus — why not — a driveable version of the bike from Tron: Legacy.
An illustrated catalogue of the cars is available here.
Bids are available via web or phone on the day of auction (registered bidders can also place absentee/written bids in advance). Expect them to top out at around seven figures.
You can’t put a price on love.
