Everyone loves a comeback story.
Hence the existence of the Lister Motor Co., a specialty automaker in England that deals exclusively in revivals of classic racers.
Newest to their roster: the Costin.
Back in the ’50s, Lister’s “Knobbly” Jaguars were zippy — albeit very spendy — and used only for racing. Fast forward to a couple of years ago, when the Motor Co. got the greenlight to bring the models back to life. They kicked things of with a continuation of the Knobbly racer, which they dubbed the Stirling Moss Edition.
And now they’re back with the announcement of a second make.
With a little bespoke bodywork and reshaping, the Costin is the Knobbly upgraded and made more aerodynamic. She’ll come packing a straight-six Crosthwaite and Gardiner engine that churns out 337 ponies with a top speed of 170 mph and a four-second sprint time.
The verdict is still out on how many will come off the line. But start saving those pretty pennies now, as each Costin will cost $439k with an additional $15k to make it road legal — which seems like a no brainer. It’d be a shame not to show this beaut off on the open road.
