The moto world’s first electric models left something to be desired. That “something” was mostly style.
Enter the Italians stage left.
Based out of Verona, Apache Customs just pulled back the curtains on their all-electric Energica Midnight Runner streetfighter. Behold: two drop-dead handsome wheels fitted with an environmentally sound steed reminiscent of superbikes past.
Picking up where Triumph and Moto Guzzi left off, the five-years-young European manufacturer riffed off ’70s and ’80s café racers, incorporating a boxy form and cartoonish features. Most notably are the in-your-face headlights, which hide a set of LEDs likened to GT race cars’ rain lights.
Beneath the regal British racing green, it’s packing a 11.7 kWh battery and a 95-pony motor good for up to 124 mph for approximately 124 miles strong. And she’s fast-charging: 0-85 percent in 30 minutes. Other features include park assistance, Bosch ABS and GPS brakes, and Bluetooth integration.
As it stands, the Midnight Runner is a one-off make, but it certainly raises the bar for custom electro moto action to come.
