In the conversation about the most influential watch brands in the world, Citizen is always going to be in the mix. The Japanese company hit its centennial just a few years back, and while they’ve added other heavy hitters to their roster over the years (like Bulova, Alpina and Frédérique Constant), we’re here for their namesake watches today, because this week Huckberry added them to their ever-growing lineup of timepieces they stock

For the initial drop, Huckberry is largely focusing on Citizen’s reliable dive watches. A month ago before we even knew the site would be adding this titan of Japanese watchmaking, our timepiece correspondent included the light-powered Citizen Promaster Dive in his roundup of the best watches in this category under $1,000 (the brand also holds a spot in our field watches guide). Solid movements, timeless and rugged designs, affordable price points — what’s not to love?

OK, maybe not all of the designs are timeless. Among Huckberry’s selection, you’ll find a bunch of recognizable dials, bezels and bracelets, and then you’ll find the bulbous Promaster Dive Orca. It features one of Citizen’s Eco-Drive movements, powered by light just as our previous diver recommendation, but it’s packed inside an orca whale-inspired design that dates back to 2006 but was recently updated for 2022. You won’t find another timepiece like it on the market, which is why Huckberry appears to have already sold out of the black colorway, and there are only two left of the blue for the moment.

If you’re more inclined to wear something archetypal, then consider the Promaster Dive Fujitsubo Automatic, a model that traces its lineage back to a legendary watch that was discovered lying on the ocean floor for years — and it still worked. If you find black and blue to be a bit of a snooze, then consider the Promaster Dive Automatic in a handsome emerald green. Because it’s Huckberry you’re buying from here, whichever watch you choose, you’ll be treated to free, fast shipping and a generous, complimentary 60-day return policy. Oh, and you can pick up that flannel-lined waxed jacket while you’re at it.
