Take a Peek Inside John Varvatos’ New Spring Menswear Collection
RealClearLife gives you a peek inside the intimate show
Dubbed “The Urban Romantic,” John Varvatos’ Spring 2017 Collection covers the full breadth of contemporary menswear trends with an old-world influence. With an air of cool insouciance, the new offerings feature light, neutral tones with splashes of rich hues and deep color.
Held in the dimly-lit, underground cocktail bar Django, the intimate show started with a fresh tonal look, marked by a calfskin jacket with a reptilian pattern. This was complemented by an almond suede jacket with a soft casual look. Both jackets were luxe and lightweight.

As the collection was revealed, the elephant grey tones were punctured with tomato red and antique whites through a spectrum of jackets, pants, bags. Using metallic fibers and cold-dye techniques, the featured bags felt manly—a rarity in high-end menswear. The showcased trousers, most of which were denim, appeared slim but not skinny. Varvatos’ knitwear was represented by a shawl-collar cardigan with a cascading shoulder cable knit. Overall, the collection seemed crisp and wearable, thanks in part to the slim tailoring that gave an effortless yet pulled-together look.
