The Australian brand R.M. Williams has been featured in just about every boot guide we’ve put together, and with good reason. They’ve been around for almost 100 years and have won over gents the world over, to the point that no respectable style guide can talk about Chelsea boots without mentioning their name.

That pedigree, paired with the fact that the boots are meticulously made by hand from one piece of leather, means they also go for a premium — most of the time, anyway. Right now over at Huckberry, their classic black Gardener boot is being sold at a rare discount of almost $200 off.

The single seam along the heel, the double tabs at the top and the not-too-high, not-too-low ankle are all marks of distinction. But there’s much more than meets the eye; namely, the oiled kip leather which allows for an easier break-in period and the beefy rubber outsole which allows you to easily resole them for years (an underrated design element in modern footwear, if we’re being frank). And in the end, these boots just don’t get $200 discounts often, so if you wait around for the next deal, the guy who picked some up now will already be resoling his pair.
