Largest Rough Diamond in the World Hitting Sotheby’s Auction Block
Gem-quality diamond, estimated at over $70 million, will be part of June 29 auction in London
At 1,109-carats, the “Lesedi La Rona” is the largest gem-quality rough diamond to be discovered in over 100 years—and the largest one in existence today. Sotheby’s is putting it to auction on June 29 in London. Pre-auction estimates for the diamond, which was discovered in 2015 in Botswana, are in excess of $70 million.
