Texas-based Southern rock outfit Whiskey Myers brings a particularly Sticky Fingers-era Stones sound to the table on its latest album, Mud, out on July 9. The band’s fourth studio set sees the lineup expand from five to seven members to build out its already chunky sound. Paired with country-rock legends like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Hank Williams Jr. on a seemingly never-ending tour schedule, the band has taken its latest work to hot Americana producer Dave Cobb, who handled recent production duties for Grammy-winner Jason Isbell and Grammy-nominee Sturgill Simpson. Listen below to the band’s “Ballad of a Southern Man,” which gets a new life on the upcoming album (it was also featured on the band’s sophomore album, Firewater).
