You know Backcountry, the one-stop online gear shop. But you may not know their sister site Steep & Cheap, which is basically their outlet store but still mercifully online so you don’t have to drive out to a strip mall in the middle of nowhere. Today, you’re going to get to know them, because for the next three days they’re throwing a giant sale on The North Face, Patagonia and Prana which they’re advertising as an up to 60% off sale. But we just ransacked it ourselves, and it’s even better, with deals up to 70% off.
Heads up: some of the best deals, on the high-performance layers and most popular styles, are only available in a few sizes (as you’ll see when scrolling through the offerings), so the best way to shop is to click your gender, age and size ranges on the left side of the sale page. That way you’ll be able to see what’s actually left that’ll fit you.
That’s not to say there aren’t semi-insane discounts to be had in all sizes. After perusing the hundreds of items, our favorite deal, hands down, is the classic 1996 Retro Nuptse Vest from The North Face that’s up to 55% off in multiple colors (seriously, get one of those), but if you’re not into the puff, Patagonia does have more casual vests on sale. And in the jacket department, we particularly like this Patagonia Woolyster Fleece for 50% off, and from The North Face there’s the Gore-Tex Dryzzle Jacket up to 60% off, sherpa fleece up to 61% off and a ton of $30 flannels.
