Along the Bourbon Trail, legends about long-lost barrels of deliciously rare whiskey that were misplaced and forgotten about after distillation are passed from generation to generation.

Sometimes, those legends turn out to be true.

Case in point: the Archive Collection, a six-bottle batch of new classics from Orphan Barrel Whiskey Co. that was made from vintage barrels found in Kentucky’s Stitzel-Weller distillery.

Found in the Stitzel-Weller (which opened for business the year Prohibition ended) warehouse after it was purchased by liquor conglomerate Diageo, the booze in the decades-old barrels was used to create a limited number of new small-batch offerings, six of which can be found here.

Bottled by hand in Tennessee, the new supply of vintage Orphan Barrel whiskeys — Barterhouse, Old Blowhard, Lost Prophet, Forged Oak, Rhetoric 21-Year-Old and Whoop & Holler — in the Archive Collection come packaged in a custom wood-finished crate.

Ranging in age from 15 to 28 years old, the sextet of whiskeys is available on Drizly for $1,500.

The legends about treasure troves of bourbon will be around forever, but these bottles won’t.
