Rewards travel experts have long hailed the Chase Sapphire card as the best of the bunch — Brian “The Points Guy” Kelly told us so himself.
Today, though, there’s a new chip off the Chase block: the Chase Sapphire Reserve. And it’s so hot that they are literally running out of the material the manufacturer uses to make them: According to industry journal Skift, “the bank didn’t have enough of the special cards — made with a proprietary mix of embedded metals — to meet the demand, so for the time being, it’s sending out regular plastic versions.”
What makes it so great?
Spend $4K in the first three months and you’ll get a whopping 100,000 points in return — as Skift points out, that’s worth about $1,500 in Chase travel benefits. You’ll also get $300 in travel-related reimbursements straight onto your statement, 3X points on spending on travel and dining (including Airbnb and Uber), a fee credit for your Global Entry application, and 50% extra spend when you redeem through Chase (which is why those 100,000 points are worth $1,500, not $1,000).
Interested? Lots are, despite the high annual cost: $450. If that’s not enough to deter you, though, your application is here.
