Losing by two touchdowns to the winless Miami Dolphins in the first quarter, things were not looking good for the Pittsburgh Steelers and backup quarterback Mason Rudolph.

Boos began to trickle out from the crowd at Heinz Field as Pittsburgh’s first possession ended with Rudolph tossing an interception to Xavien Howard and its second ended with Rudolph missing an easy throw on fourth down.

But, things began to turn and the Steelers were able to dig themselves out of the hole and closed out the half trailing by four at 14-10.

In the second half, running back James Conner — who was good all night — really got cooking and ended up rushing 23 times for 145 yards and one touchdown. Despite the rough start, Rudolph ended his night with 251 passing yards and two touchdowns.

For the Dolphins, Ryan Fitzpatrick did what Ryan Fitzpatrick does and started hot with the two touchdowns but also ended up tossing two interceptions and taking four sacks in the 27-14 loss.

Despite the win, the night was not a good one for Pittsburgh as Conner was injured late in the fourth quarter while handling meaningless clock-killing carries when a defender landed right on top of his shoulder. Coach Mike Tomlin said it was a shoulder injury but there are rumors Conner broke his collarbone, which would end his season. More news on that should be coming later today.

The win, which brings Pittsburgh to 3-4 on the season, marks the first time the Steelers have won consecutive games since notching six straight victories in the middle of last season. The loss drops the Dolphins to 0-7 on the season.
