After promptly falling behind by two games in the World Series, the Astros have won twice in a row to even up the series, beating the Nationals 8-1 in Game 4 on Saturday night (Oct. 26) at Nationals Park. The team has outscored the Nats 12-2 in the last two games with a combined 24 hits.

“We flipped the script,” Astros outfielder Josh Reddick said after the game. “I think for the first time this postseason, the Houston Astros showed what we can really do with this lineup.”

“There was a lot of noise around losing the first two games, and rightfully so because the Nats had outplayed us,” manager A.J. Hinch told reporters. “I think we turned it around. But our mojo, our vibe, our approach, our banter in the clubhouse … our confidence level is at a pretty good level.”

Jose Urquidy pitched five scoreless innings for the Astros on Saturday, allowing no walks and only two hits. He became just the second pitcher from Mexico to start and win a World Series game, joining Fernando Valenzuela, and the second pitcher since 1969 to have his first postseason start be a scoreless outing (Jon Lester accomplished the feat in 2007 with the Red Sox).

“Maybe he doesn’t have the Max Scherzer-Gerrit Cole name, but he’s got good stuff, he’s throwing 95, with three pitches in any count,” Nationals shortstop Trea Turner said of Urquidy. “He pitched great.”

The two teams will next face off in Game 5 tonight (Oct. 27) at 8 p.m. EST.
