The saga of Antonio Brown and where he’ll be playing football this season has taken its final turn this evening. Brown has reportedly signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots valued at $15 million, with a $9 million signing bonus, after being released by Oakland earlier in the day.
Brown also posted a photo of himself in a Patriots uniform on his Twitter account with the caption “LFG #GodsPlan.”

Earlier in the day, Brown had joked on social media about making a foray into hockey.

The report at NFL.com cites the Patriots’ history of high-profile signings that have paid off well for the team.
This is nothing new for the Patriots, who have made a winning habit out of taking risks on standout talent that fell out of favor with former teams — such as current Patriots receiver Josh Gordon, Hall of Famer receiver Randy Moss, running back Corey Dillon and on down the line of a history dotted with Lombardi trophies.
The addition of Brown to an already-strong offense should make for an exciting season for the Patriots. While Brown is ineligible to play in their season opener against the Steelers (Brown’s team from 2010 to 2018), he will be able to take the field when New England faces off against Miami in the season’s second week.
It’s a game that promises to be fascinating for reasons both on and off the field.
