Airbnb just added a new filter, and you’ll want to take heed.
Under “Trip type,” travel planners can select now “For work.” Airbnb then immediately loads an arsenal of stays that all provide workspaces, Wifi and self check-in.
It’s an impressive selection that legitimately covers Kansas to Kazakhstan, the perfect tool to help you bring your next working vacation to fruition. Working sabbaticals are no longer just for novelists in the Berkshires; as long as you can answer some emails during the day and (more or less) respect your normal office hours, the workcation is a great way to ditch the cubicle without having to get HR involved.
One piece of advice — don’t feel like you have to stay somewhere quiet and secluded. We’ve chosen seven sweet Airbnbs below, and some are a bit off-grid (a lava tiny home in Hawaii, for one), but most of these are downtown. Use this opportunity to get your work done, and then try something local and new — a cocktail bar, a pop-up shop, an exhibit, a concert — each early evening. And make sure to favor places with the bare essentials. Bed, desk, kitchen. Washer/dryer. Staying small is better, cheaper, and will make sure you’re out of the house once that last email is sent.
