Coral Caye Private Island Resort by Francis Ford Coppola

If you love the smell of napalm — er, private islands — in the morning, this could be the spot for you.

To give guests the opportunity to live like comfortable castaways lost at sea, Francis Ford Coppola’s vacation company has converted a former fishing camp in Belize into a two-acre private island resort that can accommodate up to 12 vacationers. Located eight miles away from Coppola’s Turtle Inn and accessible only by boat, Coral Caye is sheltered by the Belize Barrier Reef and its rustic setting features only three buildings (two cottages and a guest house), all of which rely on solar power to provide electricity.

Guests at Coral Caye can arrange fishing and snorkeling trips with the island’s caretaker, and upgrades like a butler, private chef, massage sessions and custom wine selections from Coppola’s cellars can be added at an additional cost.

Rates for the island vary throughout the year, but each stay does include a continental Belizean breakfast of local fare, fresh seasonal seafood dinners and boat transfer to and from.

“Imagine slowing down time and inhabiting an intimate island where your only neighbors will be your traveling companions, exotic birds and attentive caretakers,” reads the announcement from Coppola Resorts.

As long as there are no copies of The Godfather Part III on the premises, sounds like paradise.
