You know what they say: imitation is the sincerest form of environmental activism.
The North Face just launched an online refurbished threads store, The North Face Renewed, which sells a collection of re-buttoned, re-zipped and reinforced activewear, from jackets to vests to high-performance tees, all at prices a good deal lower than what you’d expect.
If that concept sounds familiar, it should. Patagonia’s found great success with its Worn Wear shop since expanding it from a brick-and-mortar practice to a full-scale online marketplace last September. And as far as running with another company’s idea goes, it does not get more positive than this. (It’s worth mentioning here that the companies respective founders, Yvon Chouinard and Doug Tompkins, were also lifelong friends and climbing partners.)
As The North Face points out: “Every year 85% of textiles produced ends up in landfills.” So a steady flow of clothing — especially quality clothing from brands you’ve known and trusted for a long time — is a win for everyone, especially the Earth.
Peruse the shop here for great deals. As far as wares for the current weather, we’re partial to this v-neck, these trunks and this crewneck sweatshirt.
