On Thanksgiving day in 2018, Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson hit the links at Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas with $9 million on the line during a one-on-one battle dubbed, simply, The Match.
It required four playoff holes for him to do it, but Mickelson walked away with the grand prize along with $800,000 won in side bets (that were donated to charity).
On Sunday, Mickelson indicated he was working with Woods on scheduling a rematch that would take place during the pandemic and give golf fans something to watch and look forward to.

On Monday, golf journalist Robert Lusetich offered an intriguing detail about the rumored rematch.
“Hearing Tiger v Phil II might indeed be happening as a PPV event but that the caveat is that each will have a partner,” Lusetich tweeted. “Two names being mentioned? Tom Brady and Peyton Manning.”
Both Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks have previously played in pro-ams and Brady has even played with Mickelson in the past and sank a match-winning putt when they took on Rickie Fowler and investment banker Jimmy Dunne III.
Could it actually happen?
Well, for what it’s worth, oddsmakers in Las Vegas, where the original Woods-Mickelson matchup was held, are taking the possibility seriously.

If this actually happens, aspiring PGA player Tony Romo is sure going to be pissed that he’s losing out to Brady and Manning in a second sport.
UPDATE: It sounds like it is game on for the star-studded foursome, according to CNBC: “NFL icons Tom Brady and Peyton Manning will join superstars Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson in a golf match organized by AT&T’s WarnerMedia and the PGA Tour, a person familiar with the negotiations confirmed to CNBC.”
