Tennessee Titans Playing Real-life ‘Fortnite’ at Mini-camp

Team's “Titan Games” contest requires every player to carry around a Nerf sword off the field.

Like millions upon millions of Americans, the Tennessee Titans are obsessed with “Fortnite.” But the catch is they’re playing a real-life edition called “Titan Games.”

Their version, which breaks the roster up into two-man teams consisting of one member of the offense and one member of the defense, requires players to carry around a Nerf sword whenever they aren’t on the practice field. If a player is tagged by another sword (and it is captured on video), they are out and the last man standing wins a prize that has yet to be decided upon.

When the idea for the tournament was presented to rookie head coach Mike Vrabel by a couple of his veteran offensive linemen, he surprisingly gave it the green light.

“We thought it’d be a good opportunity for our players to get to know each other,” Vrabel said. “They seem to be having fun with it and being safe with it at the same time. It gives us a break away from football. This is hard. I get it. We ask a lot of them. Hopefully we can find some time to have some fun in and around all the coaching.”
