When Conor McGregor returns to the Octagon on October 6 to face lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov, it will be his first UFC bout since he took on Floyd Mayweather in a boxing ring last August.
But it won’t be his last.
According to UFC president Dana White, McGregor has signed a new six-fight deal with UFC which could make fighter “the most money in the sport.”
Terms of the pact were not disclosed, but McGregor’s pay-per-view appeal was reportedly a big motivator for UFC to get the deal done. PPV buys for his fight against Nurmagomedov, which is included in the six fights, are trending toward 2.5 million buys.
The PPV record for a UFC event is 1.6 million buys.
“It’s not hard to do a deal with Conor McGregor because we know what he’s worth,” White told ESPN.
