Can Harry Kane kick it?
On the soccer pitch of the Premier League, he certainly can.
But the Tottenham Hotspur striker has so much confidence in the power in his right foot he thinks he can also excel on the field of the National Football League.
In an interview with ESPN, Kane said he “definitely” wants to try his luck as a kicker in the NFL and maintains his interest in kicking in the NFL is “real.”
Kane, who won the Golden Boot at last year’s World Cup in Russia as the tournament’s top scorer (six goals), counts Tom Brady as one of his idols and has become obsessed with the NFL because of it.
Like Brady is doing now, 25-year-old Kane hopes to be able to play in the NFL once he has got on a bit in his years.
“That’s real,” he said. “Something that in 10 or 12 years I definitely want to try. It goes back to that drive to be the best. Even if I download a game on my phone, can I be the best in the world? If you play in the Premier League and the World Cup and you then play in the NFL, would you then be considered one of the greatest sportsmen ever?”
If you went on to play in the NFL? Sure. If you just kick in it? Maybe.
