Due to concerns about the coronavirus pandemic, the NFL is going to cancel its annual International Series games in London and Mexico City this year, a league source told ESPN’s Vaughn McClure.
The NFL was supposed to play four games in London this season, two at Wembley Stadium and two at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. The league was also scheduled to play a game at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
The NFL is set to release its full 17-game regular-season schedule this week.
In other schedule-related news, Peter King wrote earlier today that he believes the NFL is making multiple schedules in case the season has to be cut down to 14, 12 or even 10 games per team.
King also noted that the league pushing back the start of the season in order to fit in a complete 17-game schedule is a possibility.
“It’s possible the league could choose to start four weeks late and simply kick off the schedule with the Week 5 games, beginning Oct. 8 … and take Weeks 1 through 4 and put them on the last four weekends in January,” King wrote. “That would keep the bye week intact, which is likely important because the players union would fight to keep the in-season week off in place. In that scenario, playoffs would begin Feb. 6 with the Super Bowl on Feb. 28.”
