The biggest change to the NFL’s new national anthem policy is that there isn’t one.
Following a meeting on Monday between the league and NFLPA, the two sides released an update about their ongoing talks to create an anthem policy that is agreeable to both camps.
Though, to be fair, to call it an “update” is probably giving the statement too much credit.

Essentially it seems to be saying that whatever the two sides are talking about is being kept in-house until discussions are done and a new anthem policy has been agreed upon. That’s fine, but not very informative.
Also, with the start of the NFL season looming on September 8, it is getting more likely by the day there won’t be a policy in place when the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Atlanta Falcons.
If that is the case, it’ll add even more intrigue to what is already shaping up to be a strong season opener.
