Last season, lacking weapons, talent and bite, the offense of the Chicago Bears was a cub.
This season, after a flurry of offseason moves, it could potentially be a grizzly, at least that’s according to second-year quarterback and franchise building block Mitch Trubisky.
Trubisky is impressed with the moves general manager Ryan Pace has made in the offseason thus far, the first of those being the addition of ex-Arena League quarterback Matt Nagy as head coach.
Pace didn’t stop there, stocking offensive coordinator Mark Helfrich and Trubisky’s cupboard for the 2018 season with the acquisitions of wide receivers Allen Robinson and Taylor Gabriel, and tight end Trey Burton via free agency.
Those moves have last April’s second overall pick feeling pretty optimistic about Chicago’s chances of making some big strides on offense this year.
“We did really well in free agency. We have to get a couple of other guys back healthy,” Trubisky told The Chicago Tribune. “But I just feel like we’re in a perfect situation to really emerge and have a great year this year.”
