Following a 115-110 loss to the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night that saw him get stuffed on a crucial dunk attempt by Jarrett Allen, LeBron James said he needed help.

And, he even offered up a name of a player that could provide it: Carmelo Anthony.

James, who had 36 points, 13 rebounds, and eight assists in the game, dined with Anthony at Quality Italian steakhouse in Manhattan the night before playing the Nets in Brooklyn.

They may have discussed the possibility of Anthony joining the Lakers in Los Angeles as James certainly floated that topic in an interview after the loss.

“We’ll see. I don’t run the team, and obviously there are some things that need to be worked on on both sides,” James said. “But I’ve always wanted to play along with Melo, and if the opportunity presents itself it’d be great. So we’ll see what happens. I have no idea, to be honest. That’s not a question to ask me. Right now we have 15 roster spots, right? We don’t even have a roster spot open right now. But that’s not a question for myself.”

Anthony is still on the roster of the Houston Rockets but is away from the team indefinitely and is expected to be waived or traded at some point in the future.
