After leaving Game 5 of the NBA Finals with an injury to his right leg, Kevin Durant has had successful surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon to repair it.
Now that the surgery is over and Durant is in recovery, the focus will shift to what he will decide to do this offseason even though the 30-year-old is now expected to miss the entire 2019-20 season.
The two-time reigning NBA Finals MVP shared the news of his surgery on Instagram:

In the caption, Durant offered support for his team and showed no ill will toward the decision to play him in Game 5 even though clearly he was not 100 percent healthy.
“Like I said Monday, I’m hurting deeply, but I’m OK,” Durant wrote. “Basketball is my biggest love and I wanted to be out there that night because that’s what I do. I wanted to help my teammates on our quest for the three-peat. It’s just the way things go in this game and I’m proud that I gave it all I physically could, and I’m proud my brothers got the W. It’s going to be a journey but I’m built for this. I’m a hooper. I know my brothers can get this Game 6, and I will be cheering with Dub nation while they do it.”
The Warriors will host the Raptors in the final game at Oracle Arena in Oakland tonight.
