After hiring away NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski to be their go-to source for all things pro basketball, ESPN has once again poached a top talent from Yahoo.

This time its Jeff Passan, a Major League Baseball writer who’s been with the site for a number of years.

Similar to the way Wojnarowski breaks news on the NBA and Adam Schefter breaks news on the NFL, the Worldwide Leader envisions Passan will be its No.1 breaking-news insider for pro baseball.

In his new role, 38-year-old Passan will compete with insiders from the MLB Network, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, and Jon Heyman of Fancred.

Though he won’t be on TV as much as Schefter and Wojnarowski because ESPN’s studio programming favors the NFL and NBA over MLB, Passan will be on camera a good amount, although not during game broadcasts.

Passan will begin at ESPN after the new year and continue to write for Yahoo in the interim.
