According to a lawsuit filed Wednesday with the Florida Commission on Human Relations, the Miami Dolphins discriminated against one of their cheerleaders because she was a virgin.
During a work review in April 2016, Kristan Ann Ware alleges one of her coaches raised the topic of Ware’s virginity, specifically that she discussed she was foregoing sex before marriage.
The team came to know about Ware’s choice during a discussion on the team bus in Lonon in 2015 when some team members were discussing what songs they enjoyed listening to during sex and Ware did not have a song to name.
During the 2016 review, Ware alleges team director Dorie Grogan questioned her about how the team found about her choice and then said, “As far as we are concerned, you have taken something that was once upon a time pure and beautiful and you’ve made it dirty.”
Grogan later told Ware could talk about her virginity in private, but never around the team. She also added that Ware needed to become a woman, according to the complaint.
In the filing – which also names the NFL – Ware claims she faced hostility and retaliation from her Dolphins coaches and was discriminated against on behalf of her gender and religion.
