The Bills beat the Vikings 27-6 on Sunday as 17-point underdogs, making the Bills’ first win of the season the biggest NFL upset since 1995. Buffalo 0-2 heading into Sunday’s matchup against heavily-favored Minnesota, which had not yet lost this season and made it to last year’s NFC Championship game.
It started even uglier: The Bills routed the Vikings in the first half, heading into the locker room up 27-0. Rookie quarterback Josh Allen ran 10 yards into the end zone in the game’s opening minutes, giving Buffalo its first lead of the season. The last time a 17-point underdog won an NFL regular season game, Washington took down Dallas with a spread of 17.5 points in December of 1995.
“I think ever since I’ve been here, every game I’ve been in, we’ve been the underdogs,” said Buffalo second-year cornerback Tre’Davious White. “It’s nothing new to us. We just go out and play,” he continued.
