Before Le’Veon Bell made it official he will not be suiting up for the Pittsburgh Steelers this season, Ben Roethlisberger reached out to the All-Pro running back via text.
Despite playing with Bell for five seasons, the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback did not get a response.
“I texted him, saying I hope he was going to show up and if he decided not to, I wished him nothing but the best,” Roethlisberger said. “He was a great teammate and football player.”
Roethlisberger said he didn’t judge Bell for his decision but, since it has been made, it is time to move on.
“To each their own on what they want to walk away from,” he said. “The thing about it is he’s not here, he’s not going to be here, so we don’t have to talk about it,” Roethlisberger said.
Bell, who left $14.5 million on the table by not showing up to the team, will be a free agent in 2019.
There a number of teams that could be in the market for his services, including one you might not think.
