Batter(s) Up: Here Are Your 2018 MLB All-Star Game Rosters

Tampa Bay Rays lefty Blake Snell has a 2.09 ERA, 132 strikeouts in 116 innings this season, and an overall record of 12-4 for a team that isn’t too good.

Unfortunately for the 25-year-old, despite owning the AL’s best ERA among starters, he doesn’t have a spot on the All-Star team.

When the starters and bench players were announced for the 89th edition of the Midsummer Classic on Sunday night, Snell was one of a handful of players who were snubbed by voters.

Being a starting pitcher, Snell was facing tough competition for the five spots on the team allotted to that position and he was squeezed out by Luis Severino, Justin Verlander, Gerrit Cole, Chris Sale and Corey Kluber. It’s a tough break for Snell, but all those players are worthy of being selected.

In the National League, there wasn’t as obvious of a snub as Snell, but the players with the biggest case for making the team who didn’t are probably Trea Turner, Brandon Belt, Matt Carpenter, and Max Muncy. Instead, J.T. Realmuto, Paul Goldschmidt, and Scooter Gennett took their places.
