It’s been a rocky few months in their relationship, but Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers seem as if they are willing to end things amicably.
Following a Tuesday meeting between Steelers owner Art Rooney II and receiver Brown, which was also attended by Pittsburgh executive Omar Khan, agent Drew Rosenhaus, and Brown’s father, both sides are in agreement that it is “time to move on.”
As such, the team has agreed to work on a potential trade for the star receiver but have not yet given Brown permission to speak to other teams.
The team can’t officially trade Brown until the league years opens on March 13, but the Steelers and a new team could work out a deal before then. They are likely to do that so they can avoid paying Brown the $2.5 million roster bonus he is due March 17.
Following the meeting, Brown posted an image of himself with Rooney on Instagram. “Had a great meeting with Mr.Rooney today we discussed a lot of things and we cleared the air on several issues!” he wrote in the caption. “We both agreed that it is time to move on but I’ll always have appreciation and gratitude towards the Rooney family and Steelers organization!”

Brown apparently felt the parting was imminent based on a video he posted on social media on Tuesday morning before the meeting.
“If your squad out there wanna win and your squad wants a hungry wide receiver who’s the best in the whole world, someone hit my phone,” Brown said in the Instagram video. “Tell them I ain’t doing no unguarantees. I ain’t even gonna play myself no more for this NFL, ya heard? I think I’ve done done everything. What’s left for me to do? Win a Super Bowl? It’s gotta be the right team for that, right? Who want smoke? I’ve got a lot of fuel built up.”
Brown, turning 31 in July, holds an NFL record with six consecutive 100-catch seasons.
